The Second Generation of Passive Monitors dispatched by NLANR MOAT is intended to keep up with the increasingly faster, and more utilized, networks that are monitored.
The most remarkable feature of these machines is the new speacialized hardware. These Monitors use Dag3.2 cards from the University of Waikato's WAND group which are capable of producing header traces from ATM and POS networks running as fast as OC12 speeds (12 * 51.8Mbps = 622Mbps).
The components of these machines are as follows:
| Chassis: | 19" 585 Chassis "ATX" Beige |
| Motherboard: | Intel L440GXH Dual Slot1 6 PCI with dual on-board SCSI controller, 10/100 ethernet, and video. |
| Processor: | Intel Pentium III 650Mhz Slot1 |
| RAM: | 1 DIMM, SDRAM 256MB/PC100/ECC |
| Floppy: | TEAC 1.44 |
| Disk: | 3 IBM 9.1GB Ultra2 Wide SCSI disk drives (P/N: 25L1910) |
Total Cost Per Monitor: US$2995.00
The above cost does not include the 2 Dag 3.2 cards which are installed in each monitor before shipping.
