
The Texas GigaPOP has parts located on the Rice University Campus and in the Texas A&M Institute of Biosciences and Technology on the Texas Medical Center Campus.
Typically, minimum connection speeds for participants is DS-3. Most participants are connected at OC-12 speeds. The link to Abilene is OC-3. The link to Verio is also an OC-3.
The Texas GigaPOP is composed of an ATM cloud built from two FORE ASX-1200 switches. One switch is located on the Rice University Campus. The other is located at the Texas A&M Institute for Biosciences and Technology on the Texas Medical Center Campus.
The monitor was installed in October 2000 and went operational on April 28th, 2002.
